Process Audit by Terre des Hommes, Netherlands

Part of the process audit, Mr. Stephen, Finance Department and Mr. Nacho, Program Department from Terre des Hommes, Netherlands visited Project Blooming Buds project site in Namakkal on 7th December 2012. They were accompanied by Mr. Thangaperumal, Project Officer, Terre des Hommes, Netherlands in India and Ms. Anne Priya, Operational Manager, NELINDCO Foundation. 















They had interaction visited and interacted with the children in the short stay residential home, Vocational Training and the project beneficiaries in Vettambadi and Chellappa Colony Villages. 

They also got to know the project updates, reviewed the program and  finance.

World AIDS Day 2012

World AIDS Day today!

The theme of the year is: Getting to Zero- Zero new HIV infections. Zero Discrimination. Zero AIDS related deaths.

WORD has been working for the overall development of the people living with HIV/AIDS including the children in Namakkal district, one of the hardest hit of this epidemic in India. Let's all join our hands to show our solidarity for the people living with HIV/AIDS. Let's remain united to uphold their rights.

Micro Scale Biogas CDM Project of WORD


The Micro Scale Biogas project of WORD submitted before UNFCC.  Started our journey in May 2011, this project has completed various stages- End user Survey, Fuel wood survey, GS-stakeholders meeting, various consultation meetings with the end users, Validation of the project by UNFCC approved carbon auditors- TUV Rheinland, Submission to Gold Standard Foundation, Obtaining Host Country Approval  before it has submitted before UNFCC. 

With the support of SCINDeA Network, Yelagiri Hills and the technical support of Fair Climate Network, WORD has achieved to reach this level at present. 

Hopefully, all the formalities will be over by May 2013, and we will be able to construct the biogas units in the end user families in Namakkal District.

Tree Plantation Program

WORD in Namakkal District taking various steps to nurture green environment.







In a continuation to this initiative, WORD organised the tree plantation program in Elanthakuttai village in Pallipalayam block in Namakkal District on 30th September 2012. 

Elanthakkuttai vice Panchayat President Mr. Shanmugam participated in the program. In continuation with the program, the saplings were given to Southapuram Government Hr. Sec. School and Kullanayakkanpalayam Government Hr. Sec. School. 

Mr. Sathrack Dinakaran, Project Co-ordinator made all the arrangements for the program.

Host Country Approval for Microscale CDM Biogas Project

The Host Country Approval for the Micro Scale CDM Biogas Project of WORD obtained from the National CDM Authority, Minstry of Environment & Forests, Government of India.

Mr. Thangaperumal, Project Officer, Terre des Hommes, Netherlands in India visited WORD from 16th-17th August 2012.

He visited the project sites at Southapuram and E-Katoor in Pallipalayam areas and have given technical training to the staff in Namakkal of Project Blooming Buds.

Right to Water Campaign in Pallipalayam, Namakkal District




WORD organised the 'Right to Water' campaign in Pallipalayam, Namakkal District on 7th June 2012. The campaign started in Coimbatore durign the World Environment Day on 5th June 2012. The campaign is being undertaken in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal, Trichy and Pudukkottai Districts with the partner NGOs of Tirupur People Forum (TPF).




During the campaign the self help group leaders in Pallipalayam were given orientation on the conservation of water and its importances, protect reservoirs and river from toxics and other pollutants.


Kiruthiga bagged centum in Social Science from Blooming Buds Project

S. Kiruthiga who has appeared the 10th standard public examination during this year, has scored centum in Social Science Subject.

She has been studying from our short stay home, part of the blooming buds project of WORD which is being supported by Terre des Hommes, Netherlands.

Recognition to WORD in Civil Society Partnership in HIV/AIDS Program organised by APAC Project

AIDS prevention and Control Project (APAC) managed by Voluntary Health Services, Chennai has completed 17 years in the field of prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in Tamilnadu with the funding support of United Stations Agency for International Development (USAID). To mark this historic occasion, APAC has organized Civil Society Partnership in HIV/AIDS Program at Hotel GRT, Chennai to recognize the partner NGOs on 9th March 2012.



During the program, WORD has received the certificate of Honour for partnered with APAC in controlling HIV/AIDS epidemic in Tamilnadu. On behalf of WORD, Mrs. M. Renida Sarala, Director received the certificate from Mr. William Hammink, Mission Director, USAID/India and Ms. Denise Rollins, Deputy Administrator, USAID/Asia, Ms. Kerry Pelzman, USAID/India and Dr. Bimal Charles, Project Director, APAC Project. The program was also attended by Dr. E. S. Krishnamoorthy, Honorary Secretary, Voluntary Health Association, Dr. A. C. Mohandoss, Project Director, Tamilnadu State AIDS Control Society, Mr. Saidai .Sa. Duraisamy, Mayor of Chennai Municipality.

It is noted that WORD has implemented ‘Truckers Town Intervention Project’ a STI and HIV/AIDS intervention project among the truckers and helpers in Namakkal Town from October 2003- September 2008 and the Link Workers Scheme in 8 blocks in Namakkal District for the period from                          October 2008-November 2009 with the support of APAC project.

This event fetched a fresh thought when APAC organised a farewell program on November 14, 2008 at the same venue. We are sharing a snap that was taken during the program.

Biogas Project Stake holders meeting for Gold Standard Premium quality Carbon Credits



The Gold Standard Stakeholders meeting held under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in Namakkal on 6th January 2012 under the CDM biogas project of SCINDeA Biogas Coalition which is being implemented in Namakkal district by WORD NGO. 152 end users attended the meeting.
The Program Manager of WORD, Mr. Rajmohan welcomed all to the meeting. Dr. Shield Benjamin, Executive Director spoke about various social development activities of SCINDeA network through its partners activities in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhrapradesh. To tackle climate change and global warming issues SCINDeA Network draws a plan to implement CDM- Biogas Project in Namakkal, Pudukkottai districts in Tamilnadu, Chitoor district in Andhrapradesh and Ramagar district in Karnataka to reduce the emission of Carbon-di-oxide through the biogas project by replacing the traditional usage of kerosene and firewood of 20000 beneficiaries.

Mrs. M. Renida Sarala, Director, WORD spoke about the biogas project. She said her address that 5000 users will be covered in Namakkal District through this project. This CDM biogas project is to be registered under Gold Standard Foundation in Switzerland for premium quality carbon credits. As part of this, this stakeholders meeting is held for this CDM biogas project. Mrs. Selvi, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Namakkal during her felicitation note said that the slurry from the biogas units is excellent manure for farmers and to improve the quality of the soil conditions.

The technical doubts of the stakeholders were clarified during this meeting. The stakeholders shared their views on the sustainable checklists on air quality, water quantity and quality, soil condition, other pollutants, biodiversity, quality of employment, livelihood of the poor, access to affordable clean energy services, Human and Institution Capacity, Quantitative Employment and income generation, Balance of payments and investment, Technology Transfer and technological self reliance.

The technical team of fair climate Network has also attended the meeting. Mr. Sathrack Dinakaran, Project Co-ordinator rendered the vote of thanks.
