Blooming Buds Project

Mr. P. Thangaperumal, Project Officer, Terre des Hommes- Netherlands visited the Project sites of WORD at Pallipalayam on 19th September 2013 and visited the power loom industries and reviewed the progress of the program. He visited the project site in Namakkal on 20th September 2013 and reviewed the program activities. 

Revolving Fund for Relief of Poor Program

Ms. Anne Priya, Operational Manager, NELINDCO Foundation visited WORD from 19-20 September 2013 to review the program both in Pallipalayam and Namakkal. She reviewed the program, practice, process and the financials. 

Microscale CDM Biogas Program


Mr. Mohsin, Projects Manager, Fair Climate Services visited the project site in Namakkal from 19-20 September 2013. He visited Pilikilipalayam village to assess the mason training program in constructing the biogas units in Namakkal on 19 September 2013. He visited the administrative office at Pallipalayam on 20th September 2013 and had discussions with the Director on the biogas program's management plan. He also discussions with the case workers, Accountant and the IT person regarding the planning process, roles and the criteria for the village, end user selection and expenditure details.

Our SHG bagged Manimeghalai award for the best performing SHG in Namakkal District for 2013


Our SHG namely Pudumai Women SHG based at Kadachanallur in Namakkal District is selected for Manimeghalai award for the best performing SHG in Namakkal District for 2013. This SHG was formed by us on 21 October 2003 in Kadachanallur Panchayat in Pallipalayam block in Tamil Nadu.


Having been adequately trained by WORD, this group has been maintaining remarkable standards in savings, book keeping and loan repayments. The SHG actively involves in various social development activities.  Every member in Pudumai SHG is an entrepreneur. They also run Kadachanallur women Milk Producers' Co-operative Society.

Under the Tamil Nadu Government’s Mahalir Thittam, an evaluation was conducted at the District Level to select the SHGs with best practices for the Manimegalai Award and Pudumai women SHG adjudged the best SHG during this year.

The construction of biogas plants has started

Under the Microscale CDM biogas program of WORD, the construction of biogas plants has started from 22nd August 2013 in Kuthantham village in Namakkal District. This is being carried out by training the local masons concurrently. The trained masons from ADATS, Bagepalli are training the local masons in constructing the biogas plants.




A total of 5000 biogas units will be constructed in the identified end user families in Namakkal District under this program in a phased manner.

NYC Volunteers Induction Training Program

A 10 days induction training to the Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers training program started in our training centre in Namakkal from 17th- 26th August 2013 organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Namakkal District. The cadres from Namakkal, Karur and Perambalur District are attending this program. 

The inauguration program held on 18th August 2013 @ our training centre. The Former Union Minister and Namakkal MP Mr. S. Gandhiselvan, Rajyasabha MP Mr. K. P. Ramalingam and the Former Censor Board member, Namakkal Mr. G.R. Subramaniam, Mr. M. Rajmohan, Program Manager-WORD, Mr. P. Mayilsam, District Youth Co-ordinator, NYK attended the program. 

During this training program, the cadres are trained in various leadership skills, community mobilisation techniques, various Government welfare schemes, exposure program to youth groups, life skills education, computer skills and documentation procedures. 

On 21st August 2013, Mr. Rajmohan, Program Manager from WORD trained the cadres on core life skills education. Ms. Vaishali, Computer Trainer trains the participants on basic computer operations.

Microscale CDM Biogas Program

In the continuation of the pre-construction phase of the Microscale CDM Biogas program, WORD conducts the end user meetings in the identified villages in Namakkal District. 

As part of the program, WORD conducted an end user meeting on 8th August 2013 in Kuthanatham village in Mallasamudram block in  Tiruchengode Taluk. 



Mrs. M. Renida Sarala, Director, WORD participated in the meeting and she oriented the end users more about the program, the technicalities, the processes, the costs and the benefits of the program. 

The identified 25  end user families  participated in the program.

The construction of the biogas units will start from this village from 20th August 2013 with the concurrent masons training.

WORD is all set to construct the domestic biogas units in the identified 5000 end user families in Namakkal District with the support of Fair Climate Services Limited under its Microscale CDM biogas project of WORD which is listed under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

In an continued effort in the pre phase of construction the biogas unites in this program, WORD has conducted a meeting with end users in Pilikkilipalayam village in Namakkal Taluk  on 7 August 2013.



Mrs. M. Renida Sarala, Director, WORD participated in the meeting and she oriented the end users more about the program, the technicalities, the processes, the costs and the benefits of the program.

The identified 28  end users in Pilikkilipalayam village participated in the program.

The next end users meeting will be held in Mallasamudhram on 8 August 2013.

The first 50 biogas plants will be constructed in Pilikkilipalayam and Mallasamudhram and the masons will be given hands on training by the trained masons of ADATS

All the identified end users in Sanarpalayam village participated in the program.

Sensitisation Program on Domestic Biogas Program


WORD participated and sensitized the people on CDM biogas program in a 'Amudhasurabi Goat Rearers Club' cum "NABARD Farmers Club" meeting in Pallamparai in Pachudayampatti village in Namakkal District on 19thJuly 2013 which was organised by the Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Namakkal. 

The people were sensitized on the CDM Microscale biogas program, its uniqueness and the social & economic benefits. Already 29 families were enrolled in the program. Few more have also shown interest in the program after this program.

Fitting Reward for Hard Work


Two children from our Short Stay Residential Home supported by Terre des Hommes, Netherlands, Ms. Jeevitha and Mr. Dhinakaran have appeared 10th standard Public Examination in April 2013. Both have passed in I class. Ms. Jeevitha scored 359/500 (71.8%) marks and Dinakaran scored 322/500 (64.4%) marks. 


Through the timely intervention by WORD through Project Blooming Buds Project, it was possible for these two kids to achieve this important educational milestone.

District Need Assessment on Child Protection in Namakkal District

WORD, today has signed an agreement with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) under the Department of Social Defence, Govt of Tamilnadu in Namakkal district to undertake Need Assessment of Child Protection in Namakkal District with the following scope of work. 
  • Conduct a comprehensive need assessment in the district, on child protection by establishing the nature and magnitude of the gaps in knowledge, skills, aptitudes and attitudes of the existing child protection services in each District.
  • Make Situation Analysis and mapping of District, preparation of Annual District Plans, resource mapping, preparation of resource directory, child tracking, etc. The Annual plan can be prepared at Block level.
  • Determine the measures required to bridge the identified gaps, which may include, but not limited to, recommendation of the required service delivery mechanism, structures, required expertise, the level of training, training institutions, etc.
  • Identify the technical, administrative and management issues which can be addressed by the District Administration. 
  • Prepare District Plan for Child Protection for each Block.
  • Any other duties as relevant to the assignment.

Special Program to mark World Day against Child Labour


Special Program to mark World Day against Child Labour
12 June 2013

In Co-ordination with National Child Labour Elimination Program, Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), Namakkal, WORD organised a special program to mark World Day against Child Labour in Pallipalayam today.



The students and parents of the three special schools for child labourers were participated. Special programs were organised to bring out the talents of the child labourers. Prizes were also distributed to the students.

During the program, Mrs. Jayanthi, Child Protection Officer- Namakkal, Mr. Jayapal, Child Welfare Committee member, Namakkal also participated.

Exposure Visit to WORD


St. Joseph's Home for Children, a NGO based at Kalugumalai in Tuticorin district, who is also a partner of Terre des Hommes, Netherlands visited WORD in Namakkal on 23rd and 24th April 2013 for an exposure visit to Project Blooming Buds and the TdH-NL Revolving Fund for Relief of Poor Program. 

On 23rd April 2013, Mr. M. Rajmohan, Program Manager oriented the staff of St. Joseph's Home for Children on Project Blooming Buds which focuses the prevention and protection  of children from various exploitative situations in Namakkal and the socio/economic development Program through the support of Terre des Hommes, Netherlands. They also interacted with the Project Staff on the various field level strategies, field based issues and the best practices. They were oriented on the various documentation methods. In the afternoon, they visited the project sites at Namakkal visiting the exploited families and SHGs. 

On 24th April 2013, the team visited the administrative office of WORD at Pallipalayam where Mr. R. Sathyamoorthy, Project Co-ordinator oriented them on the socio/economic development program supported by TdH-NL Revolving Fund for Relief of Poor Program. Mr. P. Gnanasekar, Accountant oriented the team on the accounts and financial procedures. 

The team also visited the SHGs who are benefitting from the TdH-NL Fund for Relief of Poor Program.

Follow up Family Visit


The staff from Rural Institute for Community Education- Mathagondapalli Model School based at Mathagondappalli village next to Hosur has visited WORD from 17-18 April 2013. They have visited the families of children who are studying at MMS enrolled by WORD. They had interactions with the parents and caregivers of the children and assessed the family situation. 






Under Blooming Buds Project with the support of Terre des Hommes, Netherlands, 26 children from WORD are pursuing their education and Mathagondapalli Model School.

Micro Scale CDM Biogas of WORD | Preparedness Assessment Visit

Visit in an end user family in RasipuramMs. Gita Peters, Projects Manager, Tech Team of Fair Climate Network, Bangalore visited WORD from 17-18, April 2013 to assess the project preparedness of the Micro Scale CDM biogas Project. 

She had discussions with the Project Staff about the crucial checklists and visited the end user families where the domestic biogas plants were recently built and commissioned in Namakkal.

Camp Rainbow 2013 | Fun For Children in Summer



This year too, 12 children have been selected to Camp Rainbow 2013 which is to be held from 20th May -24th May 2013 at Chennai. 

The Camp Rainbow aims to engage the HIV infected children with life skills education with fun filled games and activities. Frequent follow up programs with the children are also held throughout the year. We at WORD are also happy to be part of Camp Rainbow 2013. In the year 2012, 12 children have attended the Camp Rainbow between May 7-18, 2012. 

The Camp Rainbow is jointly organised in India by Y. R. Gaitonde Center for AIDS Research  and Community Health Education Society (CHES) in support with Serious fun Network, USA.

Training for Masons in Biogas Unit Construction

WORD is all set to launch the Microscale CDM biogas project in Namakkal District along with its 3 partners of SCINDeA Network.









A 3 days hands on training from 5th-8th February 2013 to the masons in constructing the Dheenabhandu model of biogas units held in ADATS working area in Chinthamani block next to Bagepalli. The masons learnt how to mark for the construction, bedding processes, fittings, constructions by stage by stage, plastering processes from the trained masons of ADATS.

The trained masons of WORD will be training the other masons. It is decided to construct 5 biogas plants immediately in Namakkal District as a post training exercise.

Talent Building Program for Children


Children's Talent Building Program

The Children's Talent Building Program held at Kongu Marriage Hall, Pallipalayam on account of Republic Day. Various competitions were held including oratorical contest, drawing, group events on talent building, singing, dancing and innovative creations. 







The children in and around Pallipalayam union participated in the program and exhibited their talents. 

Pallipalayam Panchayat Union Chairman Mr. Senthil and Pallipalayam Municipality Chairman Mr. Vellingiri participated in the Valedictory function and gave away the prizes for the children. Mrs. M. Renida Sarala, Director participated and presided over the program.

The extensive arrangements for the program has been done by Mr. Sathrack Dinakaran, Project Manager.

64th Republic Day Celebrations

64th Republic Day Celebrations

The 64th Republic Day on 26th January 2013 Celebrations held in our  short stay Residential Home with patriotic fervour. 




Mr. S. Ravichandran  from Namakkal Municipality attended the Republic Day Celebrations and hoisted the tricolour flag, distributed sweets to the students and enjoyed with the Republic Day Cultural programs performed by our students.

Students in our residential school bags awards in sports

November and December 2012 are the period that were remembered by the children of our residential home in sports and games.

Our children in the residential home took part in various sports and games events organised by the schools, Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan through Sports Development Authority of India, Paavai Inter School Tournament (PIST 2012) and emerged as winners and runners. 

Kho-Kho, Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Long Jump, Shuttle Run, Short put are the events in which our children emerged as winners.
